The centerpiece of this piece is an extraordinary semi-precious mineral — cordierite — captivating with its mysterious color. Due to its unique optical property, pleochroism (a change of color depending on the viewing angle), it is also known as the “Viking Compass.” In the Middle Ages, Vikings used this stone to determine the position of the sun even on cloudy days. When viewed from different angles, it displays various colours:
Bluish violet (the strongest main colour)
Grayish blue
Yellowish brown or golden
Sometimes light gray or almost colourless
